Prosecutor: Northville man had sexual contact with teen

PLYMOUTH, Mich. -- A 37-year-old man from Northville has been charged with having sexual contact with a teenage girl.

Robert Louis Messer was arraigned Thursday in Plymouth District Court on first- and third-degree criminal sexual conduct charges as well as a count of accosting a minor for immoral purposes.

He was assigned a bond amount of $2 million. A preliminary examination is scheduled for Nov. 8.

Messer told the judge he was "not a threat to anyone." He appeared on a television screen in the courtroom via a video feed.

Authorities say Messer picked up the 15-year-old girl at her Plymouth Twp. home on Sunday and disappeared for several days.

The two were found Tuesday in a Washtenaw County field.

Police have said they left notes expressing their love for each other.
