Water Treatment Plant Remains Identified

 (FOX/ CNS)Human remains that were found at water treatment plants in Carson and Bassett late last month were identified today as those of a 27-year-old woman from the eastern San Gabriel Valley.

According to the Sheriff's Department, Erin Lynn Cruz was last seen in the La Puente area the night of Oct. 23. Her cause of death has not been determined.

A foot and calf were found about 8 a.m. Oct. 26 in a separation pond at the county's Joint Water Pollution Control Plant in the 24500 block of South Figueroa Street in Carson. Two days later, a woman's torso was found at the county-run San Jose Creek Water Reclamation plant in the 1900 block of Workman Mill Road in the unincorporated Bassett area.

On Oct. 31, a left arm was found at the Carson plant.All the body parts turned up in settling ponds where solids and liquids are separated. Officials said the water treatment plants are connected by sewage lines as big as 12 feet across.

Sheriff's officials asked that anyone who may have seen the victim or has any other information about the case to contact the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.

(FOX 11/CNS) - More human remains reportedly were found today at a county water treatment plant in Carson where remains were found on Saturday.

The remains were found at the facility in the 24500 block of South Figueroa Street, ABC7 reported.

Coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter said an investigator from his agency was sent to the scene on a "follow-up" investigation, but he would not say whether additional remains have been found.

Sheriff's officials had no immediate information on today's events.

On Monday, the torso of a woman's body was found at a county water treatment plant in Industry, and apparently matched the foot, calf and other remains that were found in the water treatment plant in Carson on Saturday.

Coroner's investigators have yet to determine the woman's cause of death or her identity. She was described only as possibly Hispanic.

The torso was found in the county-run San Jose Creek Water Reclamation plant in the 1900 block of Workman Mill Road about 9:25 a.m. Monday, according to the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

The foot and calf were found Saturday about 8 a.m. in a separation pond at the county's Joint Water Pollution Control Plant on South Figueroa Street.

The water treatment plants are connected by sewage lines as big as 12 feet across.
