Posted: Updated:

You may think shedding a few pounds could add some zest to your love life, but think again. A study by North Carolina State University and the University Of Texas followed couples trying to lose weight.

In some cases, when only one member of the couple lost weight, there was trouble. The slimmer partner would sometimes nag the other partner.

Furthermore, at times the heavier partner would feel insecure and make critical comments toward the other or even try to derail the weight loss.

The research surveyed 21 couples from across the U.S. One partner in had lost at least 30 pounds over two years.

The study did also find that couples in which both partners were receptive to healthy changes reported better relationship both sexually and emotionally.
