Corey Feldman: I Worked Very Hard, But It Was An Escape

Posted: Updated:

Corey Feldman went through a lot as a child and he talks about those experiences in his new book "Coreyography". Feldman talked about how film sets were an escape from the abuse he says he suffered at home at the hands of his mother.

"It was a way to go to a place where everyone was going to treat me with love and respect..."

When told how his mom denied ever hurting him, Corey said he's not surprised.

"What else would you expect? To be able to do the things that she's done to her children is, I can't even put myself in the mindset, I'm a father so as a father I can't imagine hurting my child for anything."

In the book, Corey also details the sexual abuse he says he and friend Corey Haim experienced while working in Hollywood.

"We were really painted in a very bad way for many many years because I think there were people in very high positions that were aware of the things that were going on...I think that there were people in positions of power that worked very hard to try and desecrate our reputations and our names to make us worthless so when we finally came forward it would be worthless."

Corey also talked about how he'd read an article a few months ago and in it, an actress acknowledged what the they were going through was common knowledge in the industry.

"She said friends of mine (hers) in the biz knew about the two Coreys like it was talked about casually like as a joke, like everyone's been with them..." Corey says he and Haim had to act even when they weren't on the set.

"We have to put on that image that 'hey we're in Hollywood, everything's happy all the time'...that is part of the conditioning, you don't want to reveal your scars."
