Police K9 'Shooter' Recovering After Being Shot In NJ

Posted: Updated:

The police K9 allegedly shot Thursday by a suspect in Egg Harbor Township is improving.

Police said Friday the dog is doing just fine and is recovering.

"Shooter" was injured after police pulled over 39-year-old Donald Capriotti near a motel along the Black Horse Pike.

Capriotti got out of his car and ran into a marshy area. As officers searched for him, shots were fired, and the K9 was hit in the neck.

Capriotti was also shot several times and is in critical condition. Officials say they expect to charge him with two counts of aggravated assault in the first and third degree along with eluding charges.

Police were also back out at the scene Friday, searching for evidence both in the area of the marsh and on the water.
