In honor of Veterans Day, plenty of restaurants are giving back to those who have served our country.  Here's a list of some of the restaurants participating for 2013!

Applebee's – Veterans and active duty military receive a FREE meal on Veterans Day.  Offer good during business hours on November 11.  Click here for special menu options to choose from, and to find a location near you.   Proof of service required.

Bob Evans – Veterans and active military personnel get FREE all-you-can-eat hotcakes on Monday, November 11 with valid military ID.  To find a location, click here.

Boston Market – Stop by any Boston Market location and show your valid military ID to receive a FREE whole chicken when you purchase a family meal.  Click here to find a location near you.

Carrabba's Italian Grill – All active military and retired veterans receive a FREE appetizer from November 9-11 at Carrabba's locations across the U.S.  Click here for details and locations.

Chili's – On Veterans Day, all veterans and active military personnel receive a FREE entrée from their special Veterans Day menu.  Dine-in only.  Beverages and gratuity not included.  Proof of military service required.  Click here for more info.

    The decommissioned aircraft carrier USS Saratoga left its port in Rhode Island on Thursday for its final journey to Texas, where it will be scrapped. The ship departed Naval Station Newport and made its way down Narragansett Bay to the Atlantic Ocean. It is heading to the Esco Marine ship recycling plant in Brownsville, Texas.

    On Wednesday, the world famous New York Stock Exchange closing bell rang in honor of pediatric cancer awareness. The Loccisano family says their beloved Frankie heard the bell all the way up in heaven. Frankie's grandmother says she is convinced of it. Camille Loccisano, Frankie's mother, is the executive director of Frankie's Mission, a nonprofit pediatric cancer foundation named in her son's honor.

    The Metro-North Railroad has sacrificed safety for on-time performance, according to a report released Wednesday by a Metropolitan Transportation Authority panel. The report echoes an assessment conducted this year by the Federal Railroad Administration, which investigated after a string of Metro-North accidents including a December 2013 derailment that killed four riders in the Bronx.
