Jasmine Longs For Nursery Rhymes In A Forever Home

Posted: Updated:

Some children have a rougher start in life with needs that require a little extra TLC and attention. Such is the case with Jasmine (2011), this week's Wednesday's Child. Jasmine was born with Down syndrome and moderate mental retardation with some medical needs. In spite of her special needs, we know there is an extra special family out there that will give Jasmine the extra TLC and attention in order to help her bloom to her fullest potential.

Jasmine is a warm, affectionate and engaging little girl who currently connects with others through touch as well as responding with smiles, clapping, bouncing and giggling.  Jasmine enjoys being sung to and seems to have a fondness for nursery rhymes, with "Itsy Bitsy Spider" being her current favorite.

Children with special needs have different kinds of challenges.  But there is support, training and assistance available to families who take on the special needs of children like Jasmine.

Just like in her favorite nursery rhyme, we are confident that as Jasmine continues to climb the waterspout of life, a forever family will come along and help her through the rain.

This week's Wednesday's Child is another sample of just how strong the human spirit is even in the earliest stages. Samajai (2012) has been negotiating many medical issues since his beginning, including Intrauterine Growth Restriction, Microcephaly, Goldenhar Syndrome, an ear anomaly, hypospadius, a ventricular septal defect, a cleft palate and a rib/sternum anomaly.

This week we want to make a federal case for Joseph (1998) finding a forever family, so we obtained the necessary clearances to accompany Joseph to the Los Angeles Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). And during our friendly investigation, we found Joseph to be a dynamic teen with a good bit of focus and determination for someone his age.

Los Angeles used to be a major venue for championship boxing. From the 1930s through the 1970s, there were prize fights nearly every night in metropolitan Los Angeles, primarily at the Olympic Auditorium in Downtown Los Angeles.

We're in the hazy days of August and soon it will be back-to-school for many children… or the very first day of school for kids like Khalid (2009), who will be starting kindergarten soon. But before he heads off to school, we swooped up Khalid and his baby sister Ah'Niyah (2011) for a day of fun and play at Pelican Pier at Shoreline Village in Long Beach, California.
