Gay Marriage Pastor Suspended For 30 Days

Posted: Updated:

Reverend Frank Schaefer has been convicted under church law of officiating gay wedding and will be suspended for 30 days.

Reverend Frank Schaefer went on trial for officiating his son's same sex marriage- six years ago.

The reverend arrived at the trial Tuesday telling the jury he has no regrets conducting the wedding and would not rule out presiding over same sex weddings in the future.

Former members of his Lebanon Church testified as well as experts on the faith teachings.

Schaefer says he has been called by God to be an advocate for the rights of gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgendered people.

The case has rekindled debate within the nation's largest mainline Protestant denomination over policies on homosexuality and same-sex marriage.
