Found abused and abandoned, Noah gets a new home

PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

They say "it's a dog's life" and this dog's life is quite a tale.

Abused and abandoned, only to be found and treated, but now Noah is truly one lucky dog.

It looks like a normal walk in the park, but when you look closer, you can see this dog has been through a lot.

"Noah.. we know him as 'Frankenberry,' he came in last week.. he was actually found wandering," said Maricopa County Animal Care and Control's Melissa Gable.  "He had horrific injuries.  It looked as if he had been cut from one ear to the other across the top of his head."

After surgeries and losing an ear, it was clear this dog was special and needed someone special to care for him.

It didn't take long before a permanent home was found.

"He just grabbed my heart," said Patti Meyers.  "I just thought he was beautiful.  I saw him a couple days ago on Monday and he came right to me and I just thought he was beautiful.  I still think that."

Meyers was one of many people hoping to adopt Noah, but after careful consideration, it was obvious she was the perfect fit.

The first thing Patti did was give her new pet a new name.

"That's why I named him Noah because the biblical Noah saved the animals, so hopefully his story will help save some animals," she said.

Noah will need special care for his ear for the rest of his life, but Patti doesn't mind.

And we can expect to see Noah in the future.  Patti is a pet photographer and plans to share his story to help prevent animal abuse.
