Football games, soccer tournaments and parades have all been cancelled after a strong storm system left Arizona a soggy mess, but forecasters say the state can expect more rain and snow through the weekend.
Flood waters started to recede in some areas late Friday after a day of record rainfall, but a flood watch remained in effect through midday Saturday for much of south-central Arizona.
Winter weather advisories were also issued by the National Weather Service for the Flagstaff and Grand Canyon areas.
Nearly an inch and a quarter of rain fell in Phoenix by Friday evening, marking a new daily record.
In Tucson, power outages were reported and firefighters recovered the body of a man who was swept away by high water in the Santa Cruz River.
