Dearborn Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash which killed one person.

Early Saturday morning police say a Chrysler Town and Country was driving eastbound on I-94 near Greenfield Road when it drove into the back end of a 1996 Plymouth, then fled the scene. The driver of the Plymouth was pronounced dead at the scene. That car had caught on fire, and investigators are still working to identify the victim.

The driver of the Town and County was later apprehended by police. The vehicle was found abandoned down the road from the scene of the crash. The driver and one other passenger were taken to a hospital and treated for minor injuries after being apprehended in a nearby neighborhood. Fox 2's Amy Lange reports the suspect is a 36 year old female from Wayne.

Police say the investigation is still ongoing but, at this time, it appears drugs and/or alcohol could be a factor in the crash. The female suspect has been released pending toxicology results.

Police are reminding everyone, as we get into this holiday season, that an accident "can't been undone once it's happened." Everyone is encouraged to drink responsibly and use a designated driver. Extra patrols will be out across metro Detroit on Thanksgiving Eve, known to be "biggest bar night of the year."
