GLENDALE, Ariz. -

Cold case detectives made an arrest in a sexual assault case that happened back in 2007.

The suspect, 40-year-old Ryan Raths, was a teacher in the Washington School District.

Police say Raths would meet women on social media sites and then rape them.

One case was reported to Phoenix Police in 2004, the other case out of Glendale in 2007.

The cases went cold, mostly because one of the victims didn't want to cooperate with police.  But this year, another detective looked at both cases, saw patterns and started investigating again.  That's when they say other victims came forward with a similar stories.

Raths was arrested by Glendale Police.  According to records, Raths is a 4th grade teacher at Roadrunner Elementary School.  He's also the lead singer of a popular valley band called Hollow.

"I was shocked to see what his charges were," said Travis Maille, the suspect's neighbor.

Neighbors say undercover investigators were watching Raths' house near 59th Avenue and Union Hills.  On Thursday, police moved in.

"There was a lot.. upwards of 15 or so different cars," said Maille.

The Washington School District says Raths took leave a few weeks ago before his arrest.  They also point out the allegations against Raths involve adult women, not kids.

"He's been a wonderful neighbor and I've gone to see him in concert and he's just an all about good guy from what I've known him," said Maille.

Police say Raths was booked on sex assault allegations involving two victims and confirm they're investigating other cases.

Raths is being held without bond.
