Last week, a federal judge decided Tom Petters had run out of time and appeals regarding his 50-year sentence for his conviction in a $3.7 billion Ponzi scheme, but in his own way, he's still causing problems.
Attorneys are still trying to claw back his stolen money, and there is one particular case that illustrates what can happen when police and politicians fall all over themselves in an attempt to make a million-dollar problem go away. The story begins in a hotel bar.
