Fans of "Duck Dynasty" flock to charity race Saturday

Posted: Updated:

It is one of the most popular shows on television, but "Duck Dynasty" is in turmoil. The patriarch of the family was suspended after calling homosexuality a sin.

Despite the controversy, people braved the rain for the Duck Dash 5K at Turner Field. Adults and children of all ages came out Saturday in a sea of beards and camouflage.

Many who came out say they love the show and wanted to be a part of the event. The event brought more than a thousand people out. The race helps an organization dedicated to an organization that helps children and adults with disabilities.

"Duck Dynasty" star Jep Robertson kicked off the event with a story, but no mention of the controversy currently surrounding his father since the interview with GQ Magazine. A&E suspended Phil and the family announced they might separate from the network.

FOX 5's Patty Pan was able to get one question in to Jep before he was escorted away. She asked if he had anything to tell the fans. He simply replied "I love you guys".
