    Police continue to search for a gunman who robbed and murdered the popular owner of Tom's Party Store on Inkster Road near Eight Mile Road in Farmington Hills.
    Police continue to search for a gunman who robbed and murdered the popular owner of Tom's Party Store on Inkster Road near Eight Mile Road in Farmington Hills. A customer walked in around 12:30 p.m. Saturday to find Duraid Loccia, 59, on the floor behind the counter.

The Farmington Hills Police Department says a 43-year-old Detroit resident has been arrested for the murder of Duraid Lossia, the Farmington Hills party store owner who was murdered this past weekend.

Lossia owned Tom's Party Store on Inkster Road near Eight Mile Road. A customer walked in around 12:30 p.m. Saturday to find Lossia, 59, on the floor behind the counter. The cash register was also open when he was found.

A visitation for Lossia is scheduled 4-8 p.m. Monday at Southfield Funeral Home. A funeral mass will take place at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Mother of God Chaldean Catholic Church in Southfield.

BELOW IS THE NEWS RELEASE SENT FROM FARMINGTON HILLS POLICE DEPARTMENT:

On today's date, officers of the Farmington Hills Police Department, assisted by several other law enforcement agencies, arrested a 43-year-old Detroit resident for the murder of Duraid Lossia. Lossia was shot and killed during an apparent robbery at Tom's Party Store (located on Inkster Road north of Eight Mile Road) on Saturday, December 28th. Physical evidence collected from the scene and surrounding area has linked the subject to the crime. The investigation will be presented to the Office of the Oakland County Prosecutor for review and appropriate charging.

The matter remains an active investigation and with charges pending, the identity of the arrested individual will not be released at this time. Information updates are being provided to reassure the safety of the Lossia family and community. Chief Nebus credits the tireless and professional response by Farmington Hills Officers and assisting agencies that led to the identification and arrest of this subject. Further information will be released when available.
