New Year`s in Chicago: Pricey parties for big spenders

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Everyone has their own amount they want to spend on New Years' Eve.

Watching the fireworks at Navy Pier's Winter WonderFest is free, but for those looking to celebrate big, Navy Pier offers several venues to party hard, including the largest in the grand ballroom.

Ticket prices range from $150 to $700 for the ultimate VIP table for two.

Others may look to Roof on the Wit at the Wit Hotel.

General admission is $225, but table packages can start at $1,100.

"You could start off with your general package which is good for a group of four people. You get a bottle of Belvedere Pure, a bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne for your table and some nice appetizers from our chef," Ben Galatz, Director of Restaurants and Nightlife Operations at The Wit Hotel said.

For the ultimate VIP experience, try a table for 10 people at $25,000!

"It's the splurge. You get as much Belvedere as you want, you get a very rare bottle of Dom Perignon, it's a six liter bottle and it's a 1992 vintage. So it's a very rare six liter bottle to your table. You get your name put up on the wall behind me," Galatz said.

The hotel said that package also comes with transportation and an overnight stay.

And the ever-popular Drake Hotel is hosting their annual New Year's Eve Gala. General admission prices start at $135 and VIP tickets start at $165 for early bird purchasers. The event is already 85% sold out.

For those looking for a place that doesn't cost as much as a small car, there are plenty of bars and pubs to choose from that don't cost anything to walk in the door, like Celtic Knot Public House in Evanston.

"It's going to be like you're in your own house and you're amongst good friends and people are just going to be enjoying themselves and being natural, seeing the New Year in," Patrick Breslin, owner of Celtic Knot Public House, said.

But whatever the cost, the most important thing is to have a happy and safe New Year's Eve.
