Undercover recordings describe ricin plot

Posted: Updated:
GAINESVILLE, Ga. -

Testimony continued Thursday in the trial of two Stephens County men accused of trying to manufacture ricin wanted to target Washington, D.C. and Mexican immigrants.

Undercover FBI recordings played in court on Thursday described not just how two men plotted to make ricin, but how one of them planned to spread it throughout major cities.

Sammy Crump and Ray Adams say they're innocent of these charges. Their attorneys claim the recordings just show a bunch of crotchety old complainers with no serious plans of terrorism.

FBI informant Joe Sims told the jury recordings he made prove members of the group truly meant to harm large numbers of people.

Crump talked about retrofitting a car to spread ricin out of a fake tailpipe as they drove around the perimeter of Washington, D.C.

Adams talked about keeping the ricin recipe in his house to remind him just how deadly the substance he's talking about making will be.
