Father, 1-year-old among injured in multi-vehicle crash

Posted: Updated:

A father, his 1-year-old child and one other person were taken to a hospital after multiple vehicles crashed on Thursday morning.

Two vehicles driving on McDowell near 29th Avenue crashed, causing a chain reaction of three vehicles to crash behind them.

Police say the vehicles were following too closely behind each other.

A 20-year-old father and his infant were taken to a hospital for treatment. Firefighters say a third person was taken to a hospital, but no other details on that victim were released.

Firefighters say the 1-year-old was in a car seat, which saved the child's life. Both the father and child were extricated from the back window of the truck.

The eastbound lanes on McDowell are expected to be closed for a while, however the westbound lanes are open.

This is a developing story. Stay with FOX 10 News for updates.
