CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the capture of whoever shot a Comcast employee after stealing his wallet earlier this month in the South Shore neighborhood.

On Jan. 8, the 45-year-old Comcast worker was sitting in his vehicle a few minutes before 1 p.m. in the 7600 block of South Kingston Avenue. He was approached by an armed man who robbed him, then shot him in the abdomen before running away, police said at the time.

The victim was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said at the time.

The suspect remains unidentified, according to a statement from Cook County Crime Stoppers, which announced Friday it is offering up to $1,000 for information that helps police make an arrest.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at (800) 535-7867. Callers may remain anonymous.
