Company plans fetus copies using 3D printer

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

If you just can't wait the nine months to hold your family's bundle of joy, a couple has an idea to tide you over.

Gerard Bessette and his wife have formed 3D Babies.

They say they plan to turn an expectant mother's 3D or 4D ultrasound into fetal sculptures.

Families could chose various sizes, up to 8 inches tall. They could also request the baby in various positions and chose the skin tone.

They say they'll create 'an adorable' baby figurine resembling the baby's facial features and then use 3D printing technology to create the doll.

They'd cost anywhere from $200 to $600 and the 'baby' would arrive in a satin-lined box.

They have started a crowd funding campaign to raise $15,000 to buy a Stratasys printer. So far, they're only raised $1,225.
