Man shot while leaving party in Elgin

ELGIN, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man was shot after he left a party in northwest suburban Elgin early Saturday.

The shooting was reported about 2:30 a.m. outside a party in the 600 block of Wing Street, according to a news release from Elgin police.

A 20-year-old man had been shot by an unidentified suspect as he was leaving the party, which was attended by about 50 people, the release said.

Before officers arrived, the man had been taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, where he was treated and released later Saturday morning.

No one is in custody as detectives from the Elgin Police Department's Major Investigations Division interview people who were at the party.
