PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

Do you wear spanx? A lot of women do, but tonight a warning for you.

Some experts believe Spanx are bad for your health.

They say beauty knows no pain but just ask anyone who's even worn Spanx and they'll tell you otherwise. Doctors say they can cause problems like discomfort to heartburn, loss of circulation to the legs, or even urinanary incontinence.

"They make it look very smooth no panty lines" said Kimberly Young.

On the outside Spanx make a body look flawless, but on the inside they could be doing damage.

"Imagine wearing something incredibnly tight ont he body enough that you have to throw up at your own wedding it can constitute a health issue" said Dr Mark Hong a Urologist.

Dr. Mark Hong, a valley Urologist, is one of many doctors who say these undergarments keep causing health problems and some seriously unsexy side effects. We're talking increased gas, nausea, and trouble with urination.

"Anytime you are compressing your body it will compress your body and that can lead to leakage of urine called incontinence" said Hong.

"I can believe it" said Lauren Turner who wears the product from time to time, she's not surprised by the news. "Like someone is squeezing my insides and when you sit it feels like its choking the life out of your body" said Turner.

And it's not just women falling victim to this health hazard men who wear tight jeans also visit Dr. Hong.

"Believe it or not we have seen men who have come in with testicular pain caused from compressions" said Hong.
