A soldier wounded in the line of duty gets a new start and a new home built just for him.
Robert Bruce showed us his prosthetics, the Marine Sergeant lost his legs in Afghanistan. Now he's back in his hometown of Mesa and looking forward.
Robert and his wife currently live in an apartment."Right now its a one bedroom apartment...not easy for a wheel chair and I have to scoot around on my butt" said Bruce.
That will change in the next few months, he is getting a new home. They are breaking ground Saturday. The house will have three bedrooms a den and a living room and a dinning room its a house this young family can grow into.
The house will be built by Taylor Morrison and Homes for our Troops, a custom home for Robert."It's awesome... I knew there was support for wounded guys but I didn't know just how much until I got wounded." said Bruce.
The new home is in East Mesa not far from where he grew up. The couple will move in August and they are already packing.
There are 50,000 injured service men and women that need customized houses in the country. And they are still waiting.
