PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

This all started with one man's dream back in 2010 he was making beer at home along with two brave business partners, he took his passion for beer and his love for the outdoors and created an award winning brewing company.

Here's to being number one in the world! "this is the most exciting moment in our history, I'd put it right above us opening" said Jonathan Buford, co-owner of Arizona wilderness brewing company.

Jonathan Buford, Patrick Warem and Brett Dettler are co-owners of Arizona Wilderness Brewing company, set out to bring great beer to Arizona while using local ingredients farms like Agritopia in Gilbert and Sossoman farms in Arizona where they get the white sonora wheat used in their beers.

"As far as I'm concerned that is the most important wheat in our history most important grain in our history in the state of Arizona five years ago the way they explained it it was going extinct" said Buford.

All of the beers now brewed inside the restaurant were originally created in the garage  of Buford's queen creek home. "It wasn't just about starting a brewing company it was about showcasing Arizona" said Buford.

Buford fell in love with Arizona when he moved from Ohio 13 years ago the state's beauty and his love for the outdoors inspired the name and decor inside the brewery. The company's logo is shaped after the signs posted at every entrance to state wilderness areas. They've only been open for 6 months but patrons hope their prestigious new title will take them far!

"I like what they're doing here I like how they come out with different flavors every week. I think four peaks and some other breweries in the area have some competition" said Kent Schwitters a patron.

"I'd like to see them expand and get more honors" said Donna Sterns, a patron.
