MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Pa. -

Police in Lower Providence are investigating a series of attempted child abductions reported in the area.

Parents in Montgomery County are on high alert after two attempts to lure children in the past week.

Police said the targets have been middle-school-aged girls walking home from the bus stop.

Police said in both cases the suspect and his vehicle are very similar, leading them to believe the two cases are connected.

While that person is still out there, parents said they aren't taking any chances.

"This guy is not going to stop until he finds someone to shove in his car," parent Christina Bisignaro said.

Last week, a ten year girl told police she had to run home after a man followed her in a truck from her West Norriton bus stop, all the way to her house on Liberty Avenue.

As she entered her garage that afternoon, detectives said the man in this sketch asked her, "Do you live here?"

"You should feel safe in the suburbs, but that guy is still dangerous," parent Kings Kao said.

Two days later, police said a 12-year-old girl in Lower Providence had a similar encounter at her bus stop at East Mt. Kirk and Walker Lane on her way home from school.

She said a man in a truck stared at her, and then attempted to start his engine three times as she ran off.

Missy Chambers said her neighborhood is working together to keep kids safe.

"We've all just been calling each other and texting each other just to make sure that somebody is going to be there at the end of the day, to make sure that everybody gets into their houses," Chambers said.

Police said the suspect in the first incident was driving a slightly lifted older model white or gray two door pickup.

The first victim said the vehicle is rusty, has peeling paint and a New Jersey license plate with the first three letters "HGJ".

Detective Mark Wassmer said the second victim described a man in a similar truck.

"Whenever an adult, a stranger if you will engages a child for no reason, no apparent reason and on two separate occasions or is watching children, we take it very seriously," Wassmer said.

While police continue to track down leads in the cases, parents who live in the area said they're taking more precautions with their kids than usual.

"There is always panic when something like that happens, but now that we know about it, we can all kind of come together as neighborhood and watch out for everyone else's children," Chambers said.

Police recommend that children walking home from the bus stop without adult supervision should travel in packs.
