Two dogs were found wandering around the area of Beaconsfield and Haverhill streets on Detroit's east side Super Bowl Sunday.

Michelle Robinson from Helping Dogs in the D spotted the dogs. She says they came right to her when she whistled for them.

The dogs were malnourished and were shivering, and one had cigarette burns in the shape of a smiley face on its back. The other dog had infected bite wounds on its face.

The dogs were taken to a temporary shelter at Bed and Biscuits, where an employee says she recognized the look of the scars on one of the dogs.

"It's from something called a breeding rack, where if she won't accept a male and they want to breed her, they put her in a contraption that forces her to breed with the male," explains Karen Cameron.

Since the dogs were found on Super Bowl Sunday, the women say their names are 'Percy' and 'Kam', after Percy Harvin and Kam Chancellor.

Donations for Kam and Percy can be sent to Blue Cross Animal Hospital at 1514 E. 11 Mile Rd. in Royal Oak. The account number is 3670. You can also call (248) 546-9000.
