Viral Video: Arizona teen asks Miley Cyrus to prom

Prom is still a few months away, but a valley teen already knows who he wants to take to the dance. It might take some time and convincing because he's asking singer Miley Cyrus to be his prom date. FOX 10's Marc Martinez reports.
PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

It can be nerve-racking to ask someone to prom, but one valley teen is baring it all -- literally -- to ask his idol, Miley Cyrus to the dance.

He says his classmates at Arcadia High School have jumped on board to help get the attention of the pop singer.

Matt Peterson made the YouTube video in hopes Cyrus would see it and agree to a once in a lifetime date.

The video has received a lot of attention from around the globe, but even more so from his peers at school.

"I was terrified.  I was expecting to get so made fun of and everyone was giving me high fives, saying it was awesome, so that was exciting," said Peterson.

"Just their reaction for the past few days.. just random kids coming up to him and saying things like, 'I love your video, you're my idol' and stuff, it's just been crazy," said Clare Graff, a classmate.

In between breaks from class, Peterson has done radio interviews for stations across the country -- even interviewed by The Huffington Post.

"It's been absolutely insane," he said.

But he says the best support is from his classmates, who have taken to all forms of social media to get the proposal to the pop singer.

Peterson posted the video to YouTube on Friday and already there are over 97,000 views, but the big question is if Miley Cyrus one of those viewers.

"The only people I am still waiting to hear from are Miley's people and Miley herself and there's still time. The concert is Feb. 27th, but it's unreal," he said.

E! Online has tweeted the YouTube video, as well as Ryan Seacrest's radio show, but still no word from Miley just yet.
