BASIC RECIPE FOR RICE CRISPY TREATS
Yield one batch, enough for a 13"x9" pan
3 tablespoons butter
1 10 ounce bag of marshmallows, any flavor or 4 cups of miniature marshmallows
6 cups of crisped rice cereal, any brand or flavor
(Optional) food coloring

DIRECTIONS
1. In a large saucepan melt butter over low heat
2. Add marshmallows, stirring constantly until melted and then remove from heat.
(Option) Microwave butter and marshmallow in a large safe bowl for 1 minute.  Stir and continue heating for 30 seconds intervals until completely melted until completely melted and blended well.
3. Add optional food coloring if desired and blend well
4. Add cereal and stir until well coated.
5. Press mixture firmly into a buttered 13"x9" pan or other mold.  If shaping by hand, pour onto buttered wax paper and work quickly with buttered fingers, before it cools completely

IMPORTANT TIP: It really helps to use butter to coat a spatula, waxed paper, food handlers gloves or even bare (very clean) hands when handling the cereal mixture or pressing it into a pan.

Requires:
1 batch crispy treats
½ batch crispy treats
1 batch chocolate flavored crispy treats.  Use chocolate flavored marshmallows or chocolate flavored crispy rice cereal and regular marshmallows
3 cups of 2 colors of frosting

DIRECTIONS
1. Prepare one batch of plain rice crispy treats according to directions
2. Cut wax paper or parchment paper to fit bottom of 10 inch heart shaped pan
3. Invert heart onto a plate or cake board and carefully peel off waxed paper.
4. Press chocolate crispy mixture into 8" heart shaped lined cake pan
5. Invert onto center of 10 inch crispy heart
6. Peel off paper
7. Press I/2 batch of crispy treats into 6" lined heart shaped cake pan
8. Invert onto center of chocolate crispy treat
9. Remove paper liner
10. Using decorating tip # 16 and colored icing make a decorative edge on each layer
11. Use a heart shaped cookie cutter to make an impression in center of top layer
12. Use a 16 inch decorating tip or a small spatula to fill colored icing into the heart.
