Fire sparks for 2nd time at Phoenix home

Posted: Updated:

Firefighters put out flames at a home near 48th Street and Baseline for the second time on Friday morning.

Around 2:30 a.m., Phoenix firefighters went to the home in response to a water heater fire.

Capt. Ruben Saavedra says they quickly put it out, checked for an extension of the fire and left when they didn't find anything.

Arson investigators stayed at the home until about 4 a.m.

But then a little before 8 a.m., firefighters were called to the home again because flames started up again.

Neighbors claim there is no one staying in the particular structure where the fire happened, but there have been conflicting reports.

The fire is out and now investigators will re-evaluate what they found early this morning and what they find during their second look.

No one was injured.

The home and surrounding homes are in a four-plex of sorts.
