Pole fitness in the Olympics? Pole dancing has emerged as a fast growing sport for men and women with athletes competing on an international stage.  They display strength, flexibility and musicality all on a vertical pole, similar to the types of moves gymnasts perform on a horizontal bar.

There's even a push to make it an Olympic sport.

International Pole Championship Ultimate Champion, Natasha Wang says she very much trains with the intensity of an Olympian, "the strength training involved, the hours dedicated to perfect a routine and to practice, is on par with Olympic athletes." The sport "had evolved to include a dynamic range of movement and tricks, similar to cirque and Chinese pole as well."

Kelly Yvonne owns the pole fitness studio, The Choreography house, where Wang trains.  Yvonne says she's seen "people try pole from all walks of life, we have teachers here, engineers, nurses, and all different age ranges, we have a student who is in her 60s and is competing in pole."

She says what draws people to the sport is the fact you can see the progress and still use it as a creative outlet since it combines dance and athleticism.
