New Dangerous Game Neknomination Becomes Viral

Posted: Updated:

Have you heard of Neknomination?

It's flooding the Internet with viral videos of young people pulling dangerous, booze-fueled stunts for the world to see.

The game is becoming more and more dangerous because it ends with a dare.

They may look funny at first, but dangerous crazes of viral binge drinking videos that are sweeping the Internet have now become lethal.

The videos are all over Youtube. From the weird like a man having a drink inside a fish tank to the extreme like a guy chugging a beer then skateboards down a busy highway just missing oncoming traffic.

Call it binge drinking to the extreme for the world to see.

The game is called Neknomination where people post videos guzzling alcohol doing a stunt then nominate a friend online to outdo them. If the friend declines, they are ridiculed on Facebook and twitter.

But it's hardly some innocent drinking game. Would you shotgun a drink through the barrel of a real shot gun? Or drink a beer while hanging from a flying helicopter?

In one clip, a man who slams a beer gets hit in the head then beaten with sticks. He's not done yet. He does a shot, lemon juice to the eyes. Then his buddies start shooting fireworks at him.

The phenomenon started in Australia is now making its way to America. British Media reports the game may be reportedly been responsible for the deaths of 5 young men. So what can you tell your kids if they're seeing these videos are even being challenged or bullied.

"One of the most important things here is education. Knowing it's out there. Knowing the harms that it poses and making sure this does not continue" Dr. Jennifer Caudle said.

Some say as the stunts get more extreme, the more injuries and more deaths will follow.

There may be legal ramifications. Some people who have taken part in the on-line dares that lead to deaths could face manslaughter charges.
