Three Charged In Connection with Convenience Store Robberies

Police have arrested three people for several armed robberies have been charged with holding up the Country Farms convenient store last month on Marne Highway in Hainesport.

28-year-old Elizabeth A. Albertson, 28-year-old Charles Richards,26-year-old Brian Hawthrowne were each charged on February 14 with one count of Armed Robbery for the January 19 holdup.

An investigation revealed that Hawthorne and Richards entered the store just after 8 p.m. Hawthorne grabbed the gas station attendant, who was standing near the checkout counter, and then pointed a handgun at the clerk who was standing behind the counter at the cash register.

Richards ran behind the counter and ordered the clerk to open the cash register. Albertson, who served as the driver, was parked nearby on Delaware Avenue and waited in the vehicle.

Additional charges are anticipated against Albertson, Hawthorne and Richards from other jurisdictions. To date, they have been charged with the following armed robberies in Burlington County:

January 14, Sunoco, Route 73 South, Maple Shade

January 16, 7-Eleven, Route 73, Mount Laurel

January 19, Country Farms, Marne Highway, Hainesport

January 21, Country Farms, Route 73 South, Maple Shade

January 26, Food Mart, Route 130 North, Delran

All three are in custody. Bail for Richards has been set at $400,000, while Hawthorne's is $325,000 and Albertson's is $300,000. The case will be referred to a Grand Jury for indictment.

    Summer is not over just yet! Today will be very hot and humid with high temperatures in the low to mid 90s and mostly sunny skies.  A cold front will bring some thunderstorms tonight, some of which may be severe.

    Wednesday will be less humid but it remains warm all week long.
