PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

Sunny skies on Friday will be turning gray and rainy in no time at all, just in time for some big events in the valley.

Folks hanging out at Phoenix International Raceway for Nascar already preparing. Rita Asselien from Quebec, Canada is visiting Phoenix for the first time. "It's our first time here and we're just enjoying the temperature and everything, so if it's raining it can rain, it doesn't matter to us," she said.

Jamie Campbell is running in the Phoenix Marathon, "for a runner, rains not the end of the world."

Over 9,000 runners will be hitting the pavement Saturday for the Phoenix Marathon and Half Marathon. As they picked up their registration packets on Friday many were already thinking of ways to stay dry.

"Just in case you have forgotten your rain coat we will be handing out ponchos," said Debra Krol with the Heard Museum. One place that has an abundance of ponchos the Heard Museum. They'll be handing them out during this weekend's 56th annual Indian Fair and Market which draws thousands of people each day.

Baseball fans hoping to hang out a spring training games will have to keep a watchful eye to the sky just in case the game is rained out. And in downtown Phoenix the Mardi Gras parade and festival has already been canceled but many bars in the cityscape area will still be taking part in festivities.
