CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Bond was denied for a Logan Square man charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting Thursday afternoon in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

Alexander Scott, 29, is charged with one count of first-degree murder in connection with the attack in the 900 block of South Springfield Avenue, police News Affairs said in a release.

Scott allegedly confronted a 25-year-old man and shot him in the chest, police said.

Eric Woods, who lived at the home on Springfield Avenue, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:02 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Scott was arrested about 7 p.m. Thursday at his home in the 2200 block of North Campbell Avenue, police said.

He was ordered held without bond Saturday, according to the Cook County Sheriff's office. His next court date is scheduled for March 6.
