PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

Phoenix Police say they have arrested the mother of a 2 year-old boy who was found in a homeowner's backyard in Phoenix.

Police responded around 8:30 a.m. Saturday to the home near 5700 W Glenrosa Avenue.

Residents at the home told authorities they heard noises in the backyard and when they woke up they found the boy in the locked yard with an unfenced pool that had water on the bottom.

Investigators heard from the boy's mother, 20-year-old Melynie Susunkewa, after 5 p.m. Saturday.  She told investigators she had a few drinks at a wedding party, left the event, and blacked out afterwards.

The boy was turned over to Child Protective Services.
