California Wave Dramatically Crashes Through Window Of Restaurant

Posted: Updated:

Windowside diners were caught off-guard during their dinner when a wave crashed through the window of Moby Dick Restaurant.

The entire scene arrived like an apocalypse movie, with confused diners diving from their tables and screaming with surprise and fear.

The conditions at the Santa Barbara Harbor, where the restaurant is located, were the "perfect storm," according to a local resident, John Ledbetter.

Eric Engebretson works with the Santa Barbara Harbor Patrol and warns that the high tide should be taken seriously.

"We have a high surf advisory right now with our high tide at 9:15 this morning, at over 6 foot, combined with estimated swell up to 12 feet, causes some pretty dangerous conditions," said Engebretson.

A Pacific Coast storm doused nearly the entire state with rain along with this terrifying event. Harbor Patrol was forced to close a popular walkway nearby because of the wave's damage.
