HARVEY, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A husband and wife from Chicago fatally stabbed a south suburban man while trying to rob him at knifepoint earlier this month in Harvey.

In the early morning of March 3, Harvey police were called to a man down in the street near 158th and Woodbridge, according to Harvey police.

Officers found a man suffering multiple stab wounds, who later died at 5:56 a.m. at Ingalls Hospital, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. The victim was identified as 56-year-old Craig Streeter, who was visiting friends in Harvey at the time.

Police said Streeter was a Crest Hill resident, while the medical examiner's office said he lived in Country Club Hills.

On Monday, Harvey police announced that Tyrone Hill, 35, and his wife Maria Garcia, 38, tried to rob Streeter at gunpoint, and fatally stabbed him during the incident before going back to Chicago.

Police said evidence recovered at the scene led to Garcia's arrest on March 11, and the issuance of an arrest warrant for Hill, who was taken into custody by Harvey police on Tuesday night, the statement said.

Both are charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery.

Garcia appeared in court Saturday and was ordered held on a $2 million bond, according to the Cook County Sheriff's office. Hill was expected to appear in court on Wednesday, but court information was not immediately available.
