NYC horse carriage ban

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The Mayor has made up his mind on horse-drawn carriages in the city.

Officials at City Hall have been debating on the ban for a while, but Mayor De-Blasio has confirmed he will make a push to ban the multi-million-dollar a year industry forever.

In fact, De-Blasio went as far as ignoring an invitation by actor Liam Neeson, to tour the city's largest stable over the weekend.

The "Non-Stop" actor and advocate for the carriage industry says de Blasio "should have manned up and come."

“I want to talk to carriage operators to see where we can go forward” De-Blasio said. “I respect Liam Neeson a lot and I am a big fan of his work but the fact is, I put forward a plan and proposal that the people ratified in an election.”

Neeson also invited all 51 City Council members to tour with him but none of the officials who proposed the ban did not attend.

However, a number of city council members did accept Neeson's invitation, among them Vincent Ignizio of Staten Island who says he is undecided on the issue.

"This is important issue facing New York" Ignizio said. "350 jobs are at stake,we  need to deliberate this carefully."

It appears the subway bedbug problem we've been reporting is getting worse. Commuters already have to contend with sweltering platforms, scurrying rats and packed train cars, and now there's another transit woe: fear of bedbugs.
