Buckeye Police say a man has been killed at an auto shop near MC85 & Apache in the town of Buckeye.
Police responded to the repair shop, across the street from their station, around 12:45 p.m. and found the man dead at the scene.
"I left the Circle K, I parked my car and I got out and was like oh my gosh... that's when I walked up to him and you know, you could tell," said Eusavia Pena.
Witnesses tell FOX 10 that the suspect shot the man and took his tow truck that was hauling a gray car on the back.
Buckeye and Goodyear Police SWAT teams began a search Sunday evening for the shooter after they located the tow truck in the area of Elliot & Estrella Parkway.
The tow truck was last seen traveling west on MC85. "Our dispatch has contact with agencies throughout the valley, throughout the state, and they've already put that information out for other agencies to keep an eye out for this particular tow truck," said Officer Tamela Skaggs with the Buckeye Police Department.
"I just feel bad for the guy because he's just doing his job and then his life is taken over something stupid," said Pena.
Investigators have not released the name of the victim, if he is indeed the driver of the truck, or the company he worked for.
Anyone with information is asked to call Buckeye Police at 623-349-6400.
