CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The Chicago Bears have agreed to a one-year contract with former defensive lineman Israel Idonije.

Idonije, who spent nine seasons with the Bears, returns to the team after spending last season with the Detroit Lions.

Idonije recorded 21 sacks, 33 tackles for losses, five forced fumbles and two fumble recovered over the last four seasons, three with the Bears.

The Bears have been overhauling a defense that struggled last season, releasing eight-time Pro Bowl defensive end Julius peppers. They decided to bring cornerback Charles Tillman back, signing the two-time Pro Bowler to a one-year contract on Friday.
