One person was killed, and three others were injured in a NJ Transit train accident in New Brunswick, NJ Transit has confirmed.
NJ Transit confirmed the news on its Twitter page that Northeast Corridor trains are subject to 15- to 30-minute delays in both directions "due to a trespasser fatality."
The tragic news came after New Brunswick police warned of delays because of an "ongoing police investigation."
The impact of the collision resulted in four customers standing on the platform being struck by body parts, NJ Transit reported.
The incident happened was just before 5 p.m. Tuesday when a New York-bound Northeast Corridor train struck the unidentified man at the New Brunswick Station, according to NJ Transit.
Approximately 300 customers were aboard the train at the time of the incident. None were injured. According to eyewitness accounts, the victim was leaning in the path of the on coming train from the station platform when he was struck, NJ Transit reported.
