PHOENIX (AP) - Medical-marijuana supporters are trying to persuade lawmakers to provide funding for a University of Arizona clinical study of the drug.

Several organizations rallied outside the Wesley Bolin Memorial Plaza on Wednesday, including veterans who believe pot can remedy post-traumatic stress disorder.

The groups say legislation that would have enabled the state to use part of the fund it receives from sales of medical marijuana permits was unfairly killed by Republican Sen. Kimberly Yee of Phoenix.

Yee says the fund should be used for drug-prevention efforts.
