Future Pro Bowls to be played in Arizona, Hawaii

Posted: Updated:

The Pro Bowl will be played in Arizona one week before the Super Bowl it's only the third time since 1967 that the Super Bowl and the Pro Bowl have played at the same venue.

"We are going to have a great opportunity to put our best foot forward," said Michael Bidwill

Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill says bringing the game to Arizona took some lobbying.

"The conversation started a little but more than a year ago. And we have been working closely with the league and the Super Bowl host committee about finding a way to put this together so we could host this game," said Bidwill.

The Pro Bowl is usually held in Hawaii about 50,000 people attended the game this past January, and it was watched by and estimated 10 million people.

"The whole reason we are doing the Super Bowl is to put the valley in the best light possible and this is just going to extend that window. More cameras more attention and more players and for a longer period," said David Rousseau.

There is no doubt the Pro Bowl combined with the Super Bowl will be a big economic boost.

"It is great for our tenants on game days like that, our venues are packed," said Jeff Teetsel.

Jeff Teetsel is with Glendale's massive Westgate Complex.

"There had been questions the last couple of weeks; people are excited, is this going to happen? I am sure they are hearing the news today, and they are very happy," said Teetsel.

The Pro Bowl will return to Hawaii in 2016.
