Police Seek Driver In Brewerytown Hit-And-Run

Posted: Updated:

Shocking surveillance footage showed a man suffering serious injuries after falling off a car driving through the Brewerytown neighborhood.

Fox 29's Drew Dickman reports.

The search continues for the driver who allegedly dragged the man two blocks before he fell off.

Police said the driver sped away in a green mid-sized SUV. According to police, it could be a Jeep Grand Cherokee or a Ford.

The end of the incident was caught on a camera from a corner store. Surveillance cameras showed a man falling off this car after holding on for dear life down 29th street.

Just before 7 p.m. Saturday, police said a woman dragged the man from the corner at 29th and Thompson two blocks, before he fell off around W. Jefferson St.

"It was crazy, I don't know it was crazy. I couldn't believe it at first. I didn't know what it was," one witness said.

Investigators said the victim was talking to the driver before she took off, leaving him clinging onto to the side of vehicle.

A witness, who asked to remain anonymous, said the driver appeared to be going the speed limit.

Investigators said the driver didn't stop to help out the victim.

We're told he has a fractured skull and a broken leg and foot.

"We were sitting out here talking and I thought it was a prank, somebody just hanging out the car playing," a witness said.

It's unclear how the victim and suspect know each other, but some residents told Fox 29 they hadn't seen that vehicle on their block before.

Now the neighborhood is hoping the driver turns herself in.

"I would hope because that person has a family, I would hope that whoever did it would have a conscience to realize they hurt somebody," Sylvia Long said.

The victim is in serious condition at Hahnemann Hospital.

If you have information about the case, you are asked to call Philadelphia Police.
