NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

“I was supposed to be dead before last Easter," said Valerie Harper about her diagnosis of cancer in the lining around her brain.

Harper's indomitable spirit and the support from fans of her character 'Rhoda' in the 1970s hit series 'The Mary Tyler Moore Show' has kept her going.

"It’s a tasty headline," said Harper about the magazine where the inaccurate report was made. " The story in the magazine was great, but the headline is just untrue. I was just talking about a full body scan I have once a year and there was no sign of cancer. This kind of cancer is known to move. That is the good news, that it is staying contained,” said Harper.

Doctors don't know how the cancer developed in the lining around Harper's brain.

"It’s incurable is what I was told in January. My poor husband nearly went crazy," said Harper.

Despite the prognosis and her ongoing battle with lung cancer, the 74-year-old, Suffern, NY, native isn't slowing down one bit and she's filled with energy as she takes on a new project.

On Sunday,  Harper stars in the new Hallmark series, 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered' at 8 p.m.

She plays a highly decorated postal worker who is very proud of herself.

"She is the queen of the post office. She was 'Miss Special Delivery 1969' and has all these awards for postal delivery," said Harper.
