Family appreciates 'Prayers for Lily'

ATLANTA -

FOX 5 has learned that Lily Tinney has passed away. Tinney passed away Wednesday night after battling a rare disease. Tinney's disease is called Gangliosidosis Type 1 and is so rare only 200 children have ever been diagnosed with it. Tinney's family said they would like to thank all of the people who gave their prayers and support to their family.

Millions of People around the country have heard the story of Lily Tinney. Tinney is a 16-month-old Shapesburg child who is dying from a rare disease.     

We shared Tinney's story last month and the family's plea for prayer on our Facebook page.

Her family says that they are very grateful to everyone who has been following this story on Fox Five and has been praying for Lily.
