Council Rock School District Wins 'Green Ribbon Award'

Posted: Updated:
RICHBORO, Pa. - Administrators, teachers, and students of Council Rock School District are recipients of the "Green Ribbon Award".

Fox 29's Joyce Evans reports.

They're representing the entire state of Pennsylvania.

Administrators say Council Rock is one out of only nine school districts in the country being honored.

Superintendent Mark Klein and others gathered to watch the announcement in Washington made by the White House Council on Environmental Quality and the U.S. Department of Education.

They are raising trout at the Welch Elementary School to help replenish the population in local fishing areas.

And this is one of many programs in place that earned Council Rock the honor.

A group will be heading to Washington, D.C. in July to received their award and participate in a national program.
