Amazon begins 'Get it Today' service in Phoenix

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Amazon.com is starting their new "Get it Today" service in Phoenix, Seattle, Los Angeles and San Francisco on Thursday.

Customers can order until noon and receive certain items before 9 p.m. the same day.

Amazon Prime members will pay a flat $5.99 per-order shipping fee to have eligible items delivered same day. Pricing for other customers remains the same; a $9.98 fee for the first item and $0.99 for each additional item.

Items available: movies, video games, electronics accessories like HDMI cables and speakers, travel items like Kindle devices, sunscreen and digital camera memory cards, family necessities, offices supplies and quick fix-its like refrigerator filters.

A similar "Get It by Tomorrow" service will give customers more options that can be delivered the next day.  

Both services will extend to Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Indianapolis, New York, Philadelphia, Seattle and Washington D.C. this year.
