'American Idol' Castoff Jessica Meuse: Music Is Telling My Story

Jessica Meuse made it to the top 4 on 'American Idol'. But was eliminated last night. Here's how she was given the news.

1) She is an American singer from Slapout, Alabama, who finished in fourth place on the thirteenth season of American Idol. She has been singing in public since she was ten years old, and self-released a debut album, What's So Hard About Bein' a Man (2011).

2) Meuse states she is, "influenced by virtually every genre of music."[4] More specifically though, she has called her style "a blend of southern rock with alternative and rock n’ roll." Mary Colurso of AL.com has described it as "rock...infused with country and metal."Meuse's musical influences include Coldplay, Miranda Lambert, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Stevie Nicks, Death Cab for Cutie, Bruno Mars, and Shinedown.

3) At age eighteen, she began writing music. Her first song was called "What's So Hard About Bein' a Man" and developed from feelings of anger. She went on to self-release a CD by the same name in 2011, and has written around sixty original songs.
