Center City Road Rage Victim Speaks

PHILADELPHIA - Police say they have taken a suspect into custody and have found the car, pictured in video surveillance footage, they believe was involved in a road rage shooting in Center City at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

According to police, charges against the driver are expected soon.

Fox 29’s Chris O’Connell spoke with one of the victims of Saturday’s road rage shooting.

She says she is lucky to be alive.

"We're here, we're safe, and that's all that matters at this point," Nicole Payne said.

Payne says before she knew it her back window of her Nissan was shattered by gunfire. Inside the car was her sister and a 4-month-old baby in the backseat.

Amazingly, no one was injured.

"I just heard gunshots and that was it," Payne said.

On Tuesday, police located the red Mitsubishi and took a driver into custody.

Police say the car was tailgating through South Philadelphia, blowing the horn and yelling out of the driver side window. When the cars reached Broad and Lombard the shooting started, according to authorities.

A police source says it appears to have been a BB gun.

"I am not happy that I got to say I got shot at. I don't want to be able to say that," Payne said.

Several surveillance cameras caught clear images of the car before and after the shooting.

Payne says she is glad someone is being questioned and has this message for him.

“I hope he has a blessed life,” Payne said.

According to police, the driver will be charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and other related charges
